From 30 Jan 2015 until 01 Feb 2015 I had the chance to visit my family in Mecklenburg in the northeast of Germany. The winter so far had been pretty mild with just a few days of snow. Unfortunately I had missed all chances of a winter landscape shot. But for this weekend the weather forecast predicted a lot of snow fall and temperatures around 0°C. So my plan was to capture the rolling hills of Mecklenburg covered in snow. Continue reading
Earlier this month I had been traveling in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Dominica is a former British colony and an island nation in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean Sea. It is the most mountainous island of the Lesser Antilles and two thirds of it are covered with rainforest. For a nature lover it is a paradise on earth! From sea level up to an elevation of 1,447 metres (4,747 ft) it is covered in dense, lush green vegetation. More than 140Km of hiking paths across the island lead to a variety unspoiled coastal, lowland and mountainous rainforests, tall waterfalls, hot springs, cool lakes, steap cliffs and secluded beaches. It was an unforgettable experience to hike alone in untouched rainforest while observing wild parrots, several humming bird species and butterflies almost as big as a man’s hand. In the following weeks a new gallery with pictures taken all over Dominica will be added.

But I liked even more discovering the smaller side streets in the older neighborhoods like Kuzguncuk in Üsküdar. Unlike major western European cities, large parts of Istanbul have never been destroyed in wars, so there are lots of ancient houses and traditionally grown neighborhoods left. Continue reading »
