Grand Bay in Dominica seen fom Zandoli Inn
Earlier this month I had been traveling in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Dominica is a former British colony and an island nation in the Lesser Antilles region of the Caribbean Sea. It is the most mountainous island of the Lesser Antilles and two thirds of it are covered with rainforest. For a nature lover it is a paradise on earth! From sea level up to an elevation of 1,447 metres (4,747 ft) it is covered in dense, lush green vegetation. More than 140Km of hiking paths across the island lead to a variety unspoiled coastal, lowland and mountainous rainforests, tall waterfalls, hot springs, cool lakes, steap cliffs and secluded beaches. It was an unforgettable experience to hike alone in untouched rainforest while observing wild parrots, several humming bird species and butterflies almost as big as a man’s hand. Check the Gallery for more photos of this location.
